Mrs. Sowunmi works tirelessly as a health advocate, author, media spokesperson, and community organizer to empower families to make healthier food choices and engage in daily physical activity to reduce their risk of chronic diseases. The California Department of Public Health named Lakeysha as one of the first women to be named a California “Champion Mom.”  

Lakeysha has her Bachelor's degree in Human service and  also served 8 years in the United States Navy. In addition, this post 9-11 veteran launched Perfitkidz, a non-profit organization to combat childhood obesity. 

She has been working on the frontlines of the local San Diego community movement to combat the childhood obesity epidemic. She has made it her personal goal to promote healthy lifestyle changes for all families in the community. Lakeysha is also featured in the “Legacy of Health” Statewide Media Campaign in which she was featured on billboards, radio station ads and television commercials. She has been invited to speak at major events such as the Clinton Foundation's “Health Matters” conference, keynote speaker at a statewide California Department of Public Health summit, presenter at the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Conference. She was also the recipient of the UC San Diego Diversity Award which recognizes individuals, departments and organizational units that have made outstanding contributions in support of UC Diego’s commitment to diversity. In her spare time, she loves to write, swim and run marathons. 



 Ali Terrill maintains a full schedule of work and play with an emphasis on balanced living. Prioritizing and planning her week allows Ali to freely spend time outdoors doing what she loves. You’ll often find her hiking, fishing, reading, practicing yoga or riding motorcycles. She has always believed in the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and is passionate about sharing her experience with others. Her volunteer history includes equestrian therapy for mentally/physically handicapped children and Wonder Runners, a girls youth running club. Within these programs, Ali finds true joy in making wellness FUN and helping others achieve their ideal success.  She is also the owner of Freebird Financial, a bookkeeping, tax and business consulting firm. Ali is an Enrolled Agent and holds a Masters of Accountancy from National University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Business from Michigan State University
